Here are the top 5 stories for today:

1. Marietta City Schools suffered an email hack. The Marietta Police say that the hack only appears to have targeted a number of school administrators. The investigation is ongoing. (Patch)

2. The Ohio AG has reached a settlement with the Census Bureau to get data ahead of redistricting. Ohio will get the data before August 16th now. Patch received an exclusive statement from Congressman Bill Johnson's office on the matter. (Patch)

3. Two Marietta College track stars are going to North Carolina. Both Alex Dimon and Laura Pullins will be going to compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Dimon will be competing in the hurdles and Pullins will be competing in the high jump. (Marietta College)

4. Republican lawmakers in Ohio propose stopping critical race theory from being taught in public schools. Rep. Don Jones of Freeport said that students shouldn't be asked to examine their whiteness or check their privilege. The bill currently has 27 cosponsors. (Karen Kasler, Statehouse News Bureau)

5. Deputies in Washington County are looking for Chadwick Smearman. They say he fled Adult Parole Authority, which is tantamount to escaping from jail. Deputies ask anyone who spots Smearman to call the Sheriff's office. (WTAP)


Marietta Community Calendar:

- The NCAA Baseball Tournament kicks off in Marietta Thursday at 2:30 with Marietta College facing off against the University of Rochester. Tickets can be purchased here.

- On Thursday, there will be a memorial service for the Revolutionary War Patriots. It will be held at the Mound Cemetery and a local historian will give a tour of the cemetery. Details can be found here.
