Mary Ellen Mitchell, a beloved resident of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on February 28, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas to James F. and Phyllis J. Mcknab Riley,
Mary Ellen was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Mary found her passion working as a Greenhouse Associate at DeQuasie's Greenhouse. Her love for flowers and gardening was evident in her work and personal life. She was a member of the VFW and was a proud defender of the United States Air Force. She also enjoyed crafting, especially quilting, basket-making, and sewing. Mary also found joy in coloring and fishing, hobbies that brought her peace and happiness. Her warmth, kindness, and creativity touched the lives of everyone she met. Mary's vibrant spirit and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Chris Mitchell, and his wife, Donetta, who brought immense joy to her life. Mary was a proud grandmother to Braden, Dylan, and Eythan Mitchell, Antonio and Aaron Bowen, and Donna and Danielle Breedlove. Her legacy continues through her many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim (Cindy) Riley, Faye Riley Schuetze, Letha Riley, and Mike (Toni) Riley, who will forever cherish her memory.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving parents and her devoted husband, Roger L. Mitchell, whom she married on April 6, 1972. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ron Riley and Ed Riley.
