Here are the top 2 stories in Marietta today:

1. Mayor Josh Schlicher remains hopeful for 2022 despite the setbacks that came with 2021. He plans to upgrade parks and recreational buildings in the Marietta area using some of the $9.7 million in infrastructure funding the town received from the federal rescue plan. There are also construction plans for the construction of Par Mar, Incorporated which would bring more jobs to the area and a parking garage project in the works. (Wtap.com)
2. The Cook's Shop, an independent kitchenware retailer, donated $1,000 to the Friends of Forgotten Feline. This nonprofit helps care for abandoned or feral cats in the Marietta area. They help the community with their TNR program, "Trap, Neuter, Release." According to a volunteer of this organization, the donation will help to cover the building of new housing and a feeding station for most of the felines in their care. (MariettaTimes.com)
