Here are the top stories in Marietta today:
- Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. closed its milk processing facility in Marietta and its substations. All employees were laid off on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, according to the letter the company filed with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS). During the first week of December, Prairie Farms filed notices with the state signaling their intention to lay off a significant portion of their workforce. (Marietta Patch)
- The Ohio government will have a new look in the new year. U.S. Reps. Bill Johnson, R-Marietta, and David McKinley, R-Wheeling, will be seeking re-election in areas that will look a little different due to the redistricting that followed the 2020 Census. Ohio voters will have the chance to choose a replacement for Republican Sen. Rob Portman, who has decided not to seek re-election. (The Weirton Daily Times)
