Obituary

Shirley Ann Ormiston, 91, of Belpre, Ohio, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was called home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on March 24th, 1935, in Barlow, Ohio, Shirley lived a life full of love, creativity, and dedication to her family and community.

Shirley was a proud graduate of Vincent High School, class of 1953. She was known for her artistic talents, particularly in quilting and sewing, and had a passion for refinishing old furniture. Her love for the Cincinnati Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes was well-known among her family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, William George Ormiston; her parents, Charles Edward Lawton and Janet I. Finch Lawton; and her siblings, Mary Lou West, Irvin Lawton, Charles Edward Lawton, and Isabel Brown.

She is survived by her two children, Dave Ormiston (Emily) and Sharon Robertson (Keith). Shirley was a cherished grandmother to four grandsons: Allen Thompson, Levi Thompson (Ashley), Bryer Robertson (Chloe Smith), and Kaden Robertson (Mackenzie Palmer). She also leaves behind her great-grandson, Brody Thompson, who brought immense joy. Shirley was blessed with the companionship and care of her beloved caregiver, Kayla Stoke, and dear friend, Carol Ingram. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Oleta Lawton, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Shirley, with special thanks to nurses Emily Seaman and Desiree Coey, and nurse's aide, Teya Ragalyi.

A graveside service to honor Shirley's life will be held at Barlow Central Cemetery in Barlow, Ohio, on Monday, July 27th, 2026, at 3:00 pm, with Chaplain Ryan Clegg officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts.
