Trial Date Set For Crystal Burke

Former Marietta Middle School basketball coach Crystal Burke's trial date is set for late August.

MARIETTA, OH — Former Marietta Middle School basketball coach, 41-year-old Crystal Burke was in court again today. She was arrested last month for allegedly having sexual relations with a number of juveniles between the ages of 14-15. Burke was arraigned today on the original 6 felony charges of corruption of a minor, as well an additional three which include rape involving a minor.

This all stems from an investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Based on a tip they started looking into the matter and found that 9 months ago, Burke had provided five juveniles alcoholic beverages at her residence on Woodcrest Lane, in Marietta. The investigation alleges that she and three juveniles had sexual intercourse in her bedroom. Deputies also claim that she performed other sexual acts with the juveniles at various locations in the county. The investigation reports that all subjects interviewed confirmed the information.

The Sheriff's Department stated that they interviewed Burke at her residence on April 11. They say she admitted to having sexual intercourse with the three juveniles in her bedroom. They say she also admitted to the sexual acts at public locations in Washington County and the City of Marietta.

Burke's bond had been set at $9,000 with the understanding that she have no contact with Marietta Middle School. She also has to keep appointments with L&P for mental health and alcohol or drug assessment and report the findings to her attorney. Additionally, she isn't allowed to consume alcohol, illegal drugs or enter premises that sell alcohol by the drink. Burke is currently free on bond.

She’s going to the jail to be booked today on the additional three charges, she’s expected to be released on a personal recognizance bond. The prosecutor’s office says she is to have no contact with juveniles, maintain contact with her lawyer, and commit no new crimes. Her trial has been set for August 24.
