Veronica L. Way

Obituary

Veronica Way passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. She was born on September 5, 1954, and her father was Ambrose Arnold.


She married Harry Way on October 14, 1972. Together, they had two sons, David and Nathan Way, who were both Eagle Scouts. The family participated in various activities and adventures through Boy Scouts. Veronica was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, where she attended Wednesday and Saturday masses.


Veronica joined the National Council of Catholic Women’s Club (NCCW), where she met many friends from across the United States. She held several positions within the NCCW, eventually becoming the State Representative of Ohio. While on the board, she took a mission trip to Cusco, Peru. Veronica also assisted with the fundraising committee through national purse auctions, where she was often called the “purse lady”.

Veronica liked cooking meals, driving to see flowers, spending days thrifting, and decorating for holidays. She also enjoyed sharing stories with family and friends and spent time at the K of C hall.


She is survived by her two sons, David (Janelle) and Nathan (Renee) Way, and her grandchildren, Douglas, Madelynn, and Brielle.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Way; her father, Ambrose; and her dear friend Nina Huffman.


Veronica valued the time spent with her family and friends. Remember, no lipstick or nail polish is too red, and you can never wear too much jewelry. Remember me and smile!


The family appreciates all who visited, called, and sent flowers.


A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at The Basilica of St. Mary of The Assumption with The Rev. Edward Maxfield as Celebrant. Burial to be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends the day prior at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY AND PEOPLES FUNERAL HOMES from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil service to be held at 6:00 p.m. Donations may be made to St. John School Foundation, 17784 St. Rt. 676, or to the Catholic Women’s Club at The Basilica of St. Mary of The Assumption, 506 Fourth Street, both in Marietta, OH 45750.
