Arrest Made After Teen's Dead Body Found In Mayfield Heights Home
A Ranchland Drive resident came home Dec. 22 and discovered a 17-year-old's dead body in his home.

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH — Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found inside a Mayfield Heights home on Dec. 22. The Mayfield Heights Police Department is now saying the 17-year-old was part of a burglary scheme.
On Dec. 22, Mayfield Heights police got a 911 call from a resident on Ranchland Drive. The resident had just gotten home and found a dead body in his house. There were also signs the house had been broken into, police said.
The 17-year-old was identified by the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office as Phillip Moore, a Euclid resident. Police then announced on Tuesday they had arrested Dewayne Gatson, 19, and charged him with murder. He was taken into custody at his home in Bedford on Dec. 30. He is being held without bond in Mayfield Heights.

In a statement posted to the department's Facebook page, Mayfield Heights police said Gatson and Moore may have been planning the burglary of the Ranchland home together.
The FBI and Bedford Police Department assisted Mayfield Heights in the investigation into the Ranchland Drive incident.
