Jimmy John’s is a bit different in all aspects of their gourmet sub and sandwich shop. To begin with, there are the subs, “Honest, good, fast, at a decent price.”

In merchandising they don’t limit themselves just to ball caps and T-shirts; you can get boxers with the red double J emblazoned across them. Jimmy John’s takes the fast part of their motto a bit farther as a sponsor of R.C.R./Sprint Cup No. 29 team with Kevin Harvic. If all that isn’t enough to bring you in, then they state, “Your mom wants you to eat at Jimmy John’s.”

A little humor mixed in with the food also gives Jimmy John’s its unique flavor. It’s printed on the menu that they were established to add to students’ G.P.A. and general dating availability. Jimmy John even adds a funny note why he calls his subs gourmet.

Regardless of the atmosphere, people come to eat. There are three varieties of sandwiches ranging from small to large. The smallest are the Plain Slims. It’s a sub without sauces and vegetables. You can choose from options like ham and cheese, tuna, roast beef, or even double provolone.

The next step up is the 8-inch sub sandwich. Like the Plain Slims, the bread is fresh, and the fillings sliced while you wait. These subs have names like Big John, Pepe, Vito and J.J.B.L.T.  (the original Jimmy John’s bacon, lettuce and tomato).

For the heartier appetite the giant club sandwich can be the answer. These sandwiches are served either seven-grain or French bread and have double the meat or cheese. Billy Club, Hunters Club, Beach Club, and Club Lulu are all good choices if you want a giant sandwich.

The J.J. Gargantuan stands alone. Invented by J.J.’s brother in what must have been a very hungry moment, it has five kinds of meat, cheese and is smothered with dressing, mayonnaise and vegetables.

It doesn’t matter if you are looking for a place to go eat to take out, or to have food delivered, Jimmy John’s has something to satisfy your sandwich and sub cravings.
