If you like a beautiful drive to set the mood for lunch or dinner then located in the center of Gates Mills on Chagrin River Road, is the best place to go. Sara’s is in the center of town just a short walk away from the bridge spanning the Chagrin River and overlooking the scenic falls. Like all other building in the area, Sara’s is in a white wooden house trimmed in black.
The conformity on the outside seems to emphasize the individuality on the inside. In warmer weather the outdoor patio serves as a beautiful backdrop for eating and socializing. Year round food is served in a casual but upscale atmosphere; red-toned walls, rustic planking, and stone set the stage for lunch, dinner and happy hour.
Appetizer items include JB’s Tuscan White Bean soup made with vegetable stock, eggplant rolls, baked brie, PEI mussels and antipasti. ($3-$12)
Lunch has many healthy and indulgent options; veggie spaghetti, grilled skewers, brick oven baked pizza, Kobe beef /turkey/veggie burger. ($10-$14)
Dinner is just as attractive but with even a broader menu. Some of the choices include chef salads, Gavi’s mac and cheese, shepherd’s pie, and stuffed cabbage. A fresh vegetable and a starch choice accompany all entrees. ($15-$30)
The lounge featuring weekday happy hour from 3-7 p.m., has its own special area. Padded high-back stools face a well-stocked bar, intimate tables and casual couch/armchair groupings are arranged to help patrons feel at home. A special lounge menu is available in this area, although Monday through Thursday there is a drink and food feature.
The menu at Sara’s accommodates many tastes and food preferences, but if you have special dietary or health needs be sure to ask the staff .
Although bearing the Gavi name, and the looks of other Gates Mills properties, stands out.
