Happy Birthday America 236 years of self reliance.
Fireworks and hotdogs are nice on the 4th of July. We need to remember what happen on this day.
Ladies and Gentleman, we have to stop and take time to remember what transpired on this day 236 years ago. On this day a band of ragtag fighters, made up of farmers, merchants, lawyers and clergy with a hand full of trained military personnel. They came together under a simple promise that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights”. These people, our forefathers, picked up their pens, Bibles and guns. They staked their lives and fortunes on this ideal. A man can govern himself better then a Monarch or another type of governor. These brave people came together as one nation, not a color, denotation or a class. They came together as a people that said they were tired of a King that taxed too much and cared to little.
Our Founders first asked the King to be fair and just. When that did not transpire, with a heavy heart they fought for what we take for granted today. The founders of this great Republic learned the values of hard work, family and community from their parents. They grew up respecting the land, the sea and
each other. They understood God gave us this land and we were responsible for it. The more they grew in the understanding of self reliance and hard work;
they found that self governess was not that hard. They understood that with a stroke of the pen and declaring American Independence, it would be a death warrant to them and their families. With a prayer they set out to draft a new Nation that would be a beacon of freedom to the rest of the world. This basic freedom of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, drove them into the hands of destiny.
Through the years the founders’ dreams still hold true in the hearts of Americans and the immigrants that come to this great nation. This dream of freedom and self reliance, it is a dream, that if you work hard you can become better then you are now.

This great land has seen it’s hard times and wars. It has cried blood soaked tears and rejoiced when peace was restored. We have seen great leaders come and go like the sun setting in the ocean. We know that the sun will rise again over this great land tomorrow. This government is not made up of just one person it is made up of all Americans. It is a great Republic for the people, by the people, of the people, blessed by the hand of God. As long as the dream of self
reliance and governance under God’s watchful eye beat in the heart of men, this
country and her people will not perish from this earth.
