Community festival

The City of Richmond Heights is celebrating 100 years of vibrant history this year, and as part of its 2017 Centennial Celebration, the Fall Fun Fest at the Farm will be held on Saturday, September 16, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Greenwood Farm, located at 264 Richmond Road in Richmond Heights.
This year’s main acts are all ones you won’t want to miss, and even better, they’re all free to enjoy under the comfort of a large tent. Magician Rick Smith, Jr., an internationally recognized professional who has starred on Ellen, Time Warp, America’s Got Talent and The Tonight Show, will entertain the Fun Fest audience at 12 p.m. He proudly boasts a Guinness Book record for card throwing. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the band “SHOUT!” will put on a blend of music that ranges from Big Band, R&B, Rock-n-Roll, Motown, 70's disco, Funk, 80's pop, to today's current hits. They’re sure to keep the dance floor moving. Dancing Wheels, “a professional, physically integrated dance company uniting the talents of dancers both with and without disabilities,” is also among the entertainment lineup at this year’s festival. The group will perform at 3:15 p.m. If you’ve never seen them perform before, it’s certain to be an eye-opening, memorable experience.
For youths, a free Kids Zone with a bouncy house and inflatable obstacle course provides plenty of hands-on entertainment. An interactive Bubble Station will give kids an opportunity to enjoy bubble-making, and from 12 noon to 3 p.m., Baba the Clown will craft custom balloon art, free of charge. Kids can also enjoy free face painting and temporary tattoos, in addition to an interactive show with Jungle Bob at 1 p.m.

This year, the Richmond Heights Kiwanis Club will operate a Beer Garden, with proceeds benefitting Kiwanis projects in the Richmond Heights community. The Beer Garden is conveniently near the main stage, so those who choose to indulge in a beverage or two can still enjoy the main happenings. Free narrated hayrides will take riders of all ages through a leisurely tour the historic Greenwood Farm, which will be decorated to match the Fall Fun Fest’s autumn theme. There will also be a historic tractor on display for folks to observe. As for food, there will be plenty to indulge in—including Betty’s Burgers (gourmet!); La Taqueria (a Mexican-style, handcrafted delight); Richmond Heights Christian Assembly Casual Eats (perfect for those who prefer an all-American menu); Off the Griddle (all we can say is, “yum!”); Savannah’s Kettle Corn (the perfect combo of salty and sweet); and Lou’s Old-Fashioned Shaved Ice, Lemonade and Ice Cream.
An expansive raffle will take place at the Fun Fest, with opportunities to win a $100 Target gift card, a one-year SeatStir entertainment membership, bowling passes to Wickliffe Lanes, a Fox and Hound party package, fitness band gift baskets accompanied by Richmond Heights Local Schools gear, a Viva Starlight Room Dinner Show package, and more. Tickets will be sold for $1 each, 8 for $5 or 20 for $10. And while you’re there, don’t forget to pick up a commemorative Richmond Heights Centennial t-shirt ($7 each), or a t-shirt and 30 raffle tickets for $20.
