Mayfield Heights Resident Selected for the 2017 Bank of America Student Leader Program
Mayfield Heights resident and Mayfield High School student May Xiao selected for the 2017 Bank of America Student Leader Program

Mayfield High School senior May Xiao is one of five Cleveland-area teens selected to be part of the 2017 Bank of America Student Leaders program this summer. The program awarded the students a paid, eight-week summer internship at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit. The internships provided students with valuable work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer.
Throughout high school, May has been involved in Model United Nations and the Cleveland Council of World Affairs Student Committee’s events and conferences to research and present real world problems with corresponding solutions. Most recently she became a mentor to other students involved in the Cleveland Council of World Affairs Student Committee. This experience has helped May develop her social and collaborative skills while broadening her understanding of the world. Building upon her ability and interest in understanding different perspectives, May jumped at the opportunity to attend school in Shanghai, where she was one of the only Chinese-American students. May will attend the University of Pennsylvania this fall.
