NFL Play 60 Partners With Mayfield for Updated Flag Football League

Children will receive NFL jerseys as part of the program. Registration opens Jan. 23 to Mayfield residents.

MAYFIELD, OH - The city's flag football program is getting a reboot courtesy of America's most popular sport's league. The NFL's Play 60 and NFL Flag programs are partnering with Mayfield's 1st & 10 Flag Football league, which is for kids in grades K-1, 2-3, or 4-5.

The cost for participation is $55 per child. Parents of Mayfield School District students can start registering on Jan. 23. Parents from outside the district will have to wait till Feb. 13 to register.

According to the city, practices will be held on March 11 and 18. Games will run from March 25th through April 22nd. Times are as follows:

  • K-1 11:00 - 11:55;
  • 2-3 12:00 - 12:55;
  • 4-5 1:00 - 1:55.

Each session will include the basics of football, including offensive and defensive formations. Each child gets an NFL jersey and will be placed on a team. They'll then be run through different drills and taught football-important skills.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer to coach. The NFL program will provide coaches with practice plans, drills to run, and other aides.
