On the Campaign Trail for Mayor of Mayfield Heights... Week 1

We all love a good story... what is true, what is false, mostly, what we can relate to. I am an avid reader. I read a lot of books every week. I love a good story, but mostly the ones I relate to the best. I was never one who loved science fiction or horror novels. I stick to the basics, fiction novels and nonfiction biographies. Ok, pretty standard, boring. I hope this blog will not bore you, but I will stick to the facts... some may be interesting, some may be boring. So, here I go...I officially announced my candidacy for the Mayor of Mayfield Heights last Monday night after the City Council Meeting. Now, let me tell you, this did not come without a lot of thought. I really wanted to run for Mayor of our city. I love the city, I have the time to be the Mayor of city, I have the common sense and capability to be the Mayor of the city, I am devoted to the residents of the city, I have the knowledge of business and finance to administer city business... BUT I was hesitant after I found out that Election Day was on the anniversary of the date my son, Morris passed away. (Exactly one year to the day- November 5th) I did not think that this was a good omen. I spoke to my daughters, the oldest, Jennifer, said to me "go for it mom". My youngest daughter Jessica (whose birthday happens to be November 5th (her brother died on her 26th birthday) was hesitant. She did not think this was a good sign. On the other hand, she made it clear, if you win the election, this day might not be so bad, if you lose, it could not get any worse. (TRUST ME ON THAT!!)

So, last Monday evening, before the city council meeting, I met with the new Mayor. (I felt it was the right to do to let him know my decision)  I wanted to personally let him know that I was running for Mayor of our City. Guess what?? After the meeting, the whole city seemed to have already known of my decision. I can say this... I promise to do my best to continue to improve our city ... to continue to work hard with, and for the citizens of our great city and to work with our businesses community. I promise not to be arrogant and to be myself while working for all the people of Mayfield Heights.  Thank you to everyone for your good wishes!!! I really appreciate all of your kind words, and appreciate your support.
