On the Campaign Trail for Mayor of Mayfield Heights... Week 12

It is time for us to really discuss the issues that affect us all. You -the resident of our city really need to be represented by strong leadership, somebody who is not afraid to make important decisions, to protect our residents. You deserve a Mayor who will be there to answer your calls and emails directly. You deserve somebody who will move our city forward.  It is not about the election that counts here, it is about the service that comes after the election that really counts. I have worked hard to help the residents of our city; I truly am there for each of you when you need me. I am a strong, decisive woman who can dedicate my full time to being your Mayor.

In my public service in the Mayfield School System as an elected Board of Education Member and a twice elected Mayfield Heights City Council member, I have always been guided by what is right and what is good for the residents and the City of Mayfield Heights

I have always stood my ground, even when the numbers were against me. I know that fighting against wasteful spending; putting the residents and the city of Mayfield Heights first has earned me respect throughout the Community and with my colleagues.

Mayfield Heights is at a Crossroads and it is time for new leadership, someone who will be responsive to residents and the needs of our city. I am the candidate who has the time to really be there for the community, to be there for your needs. I am the candidate who will be not only able to dedicate their full time to being your Mayor, but to truly move the city forward.

Like other cities, Mayfield Heights will face challenges that need to be address so that our residents continue to enjoy the many valuable services to which residents have grown accustomed. There will be tough decisions to be made and the administration must along with council work together to make the right decisions – I am the candidate that can do that.

Since I was 18 years old, I have spent my entire life dedicated to raising my family, volunteering in our schools and community and most importantly, raising my disabled son Morris. When Morris passed away last year on November 5th, which is Election Day this year, there was a huge gap in my life. I did not have a job; my two daughters are married, my oldest daughter has one child and is expecting her second child in February. I made the decision that I now really have the time to run our city, to serve as your Mayor with no outside commitments, no conflicts of interest.

My late son Morris, who was severely disabled, has taught me what is really important to the people in our community, what I need to do as your Mayor to protect our older adults and make their lives easier and better. If you look at my opponent’s literature, you will find one thing in common- a lot of promises but no phone number or emails to reach them. Everybody in Mayfield Heights knows that I have always given out my cell phone number and email, but more importantly, I actually answer your calls and help you with your problems.

I have served our community in many aspects, by volunteering my time for over 30 years. I am currently a Trustee on the Mayfield Friends of the library and have served as the Secretary to the Library for many, many years. I have been involved in many ways with our safety forces, currently serving as a long time Secretary to the Fraternal Order of Police as well as President of the Hillcrest 100. I have put safety issues as one of my top priorities being the only parent to implement and serve as the safety coordinator at the Mayfield City Schools. Prior to being a city council member, I served on the Mayfield Board of Education. Currently, I am serving my second term on City Council as Vice President or President Pro Tem and serve as the Chairman of Safety and Transportation.

I was honored to receive a very prestigious award, the Mayfield Citizen of the Year, for all of my volunteering throughout the schools, the community and the library system.

Most importantly, I will work to make your safety my top priority as your Mayor and Safety Director. Unlike our last Mayor, I will not betray our residents trust, I will work with complete transparency in all aspects.  I do not nor have I ever defended the former Mayor’s wrong doings.  I feel it is so important for us to look forward toward the future our great city.

I truly want to see our city be safe, our houses to look great, our schools and libraries to remain strong and vibrant, to persuade the next generation to want to reside in our area. I want to us to all move forward together, so that my children and grandchildren, and your children and grandchildren will want to live in Mayfield Heights and send their kids to our schools. I want to continue the greatness of our community and work together to make it safe and vibrant.

Finney for the Future is truly my motto and I promise I will make being your Mayor-Safety Director my job- 24/7 as I have done as your Council Person.
