The final day to submit my signatures was August 6th, 2013. On Monday, I made a copy of the petitions, all the people who agreed to let me run for Council At Large. Not wanting to be late, I left at lunch to take my signatures to the Board of Elections (BOE). I nervously double checked the sheets one last time.
The BOE folks told me it would be a few days, as they had several submissions and they all needed to be checked. At this point it was out of my hands. I just had to keep checking the BOE website for the daily update, and if my name had the words “verified” next to it.
Thursday night, just after dinner, there it was! I was in the race!
