How many of you know that today is Patriot Day?
Our Country is full of Patriots living and those that have passed away. These are people who put their lives, family and fortunes on the line so that we, the American people, would and can be free. We have to first take a moment and remember what happen 12 years ago today. The death of our brothers and sisters at the hands of terrorist, may we never forget what happen on September 11, 2001.
The first brave Americans came to this land as British subjects. They crossed the oceans to be able to worship God in their own way and to make something of themselves without a tyrannical government dictating what they could do or say. These colonists took it upon themselves to form their own government. A government that was free from a King, ruling class or one church (denomination) rule.

These Patriots that put everything on the line for an ideal of freedom would be shocked to see how their ancestors have let their God given freedom slip from their hands. These brave founders put down their farm tools, closed their shops, and left their families and congregations to pick up a weapon that they used for food and protection to become an army of free people, under a free leader. Others gathered in Philadelphia to form a new government, to represent the ideals of a free nation. Here in America the people came before the government, a government for the people, of the people and by the people.
We also have patriots that are standing today. They have put down their futures to protect us from internal and external forces. They hold the line between the past and the future of America. They do it not for the money and the fame they do it for the love of America and ideals of freedom.

It is time that we the American people that live under these brave and honorable protectors of freedom, and honor them with how we vote and live our lives. We need to start to take the people we put in office seriously. We need to look at not just what they say and do. We need look at their character and intentions. It starts at the local level and goes all the way to DC. We need leaders that are formed in the mold of the founders -- leaders that did not look at becoming rich from their service to America or becoming lifelong politicians. These men that understood that the best type of government was a limited government were the people who put their faith in God and keep more of their money and day to day freedoms. These men believed that it was the hand of Devine Providence which guided this nation to being formed and becoming a great power. We as a nation of free thinking adults need to put away the childish ways and start looking to ourselves and not the government for help. The founders of this great nation understood what happens when people gave their God given right away and placed them into the hands of a government. They understood that it went from security to unchecked tyranny in a heartbeat of a ruler. Let’s not be the ones to see the light of freedom be lost in America. Let’s be the generation that breaks away from big government and laziness and turns to self reliance, hard work and faith that God will see us through. Like the Patriots of old and the ones we remember today.
