Police Blotter: A Nasty Family Feud

Information supplied by the Mayfield Heights Police Department

A father and his two sons were cited for disorderly conduct for a family fight on Commonwealth Ave. during the early morning hours of July 5.

The father and his 15-year-old son teamed up to fight his 17-year-old son who was intoxicated. The father and the younger son got on top of the older son.

Police arrived and warned them to get off the older son or they would be tazed. Not heeding the warning, police tazed the father and the younger son.

The eldest son continued to fight with police and was also cited for resisting arrest, spitting on a police officer and aggravated assault. All three were sent to Hillcrest Hospital with the father and younger son sent there to get the tazer prongs removed.

Creepy guy: An Eastwood Ave. resident said a man driving a black car blocked her in as she was trying to leave the  on Mayfield Rd. and took pictures of her, her car and children on the morning of July 3. She said the man was heavyset and in his 30’s. She got out of the car and attempted to ask him what he was doing, but he took off. The woman was unable to get any plate numbers from the man’s car.

Scammed: A SOM Center Rd. resident reported getting roped into a mystery shopper scam when she was sent a check $3,997.85 on July 3. She deposited the check. She got a money gram for $2,045 and sent it to a man in New Jersey. But she got a call from a bank telling her the check for $3,997.85 was fraudulent.

Domestic violence: A woman says she was hit by her boyfriend on July 4. The man left the scene in a blue van with the rearview window broken out. She believes he was heading northbound on 271 perhaps toward Euclid. Police were unable to locate him.

Home entry: A Jackie Lane resident said someone entered his home while he was out on the evening of July 4. He believes they entered through the door in the garage. He believes they got into the garage by using a garage door opener that was in another vehicle in the driveway.

Employees caught stealing: Two employees at the on SOM Center Rd. were detained for employee theft on the evening of July 5. Both women were hearing impaired and because the interpreter couldn’t leave the store, both women were cited on the scene.

Sneaky thief: An employee at said she had three credit cards stolen at the business on the Friday before the police were alterted on July 3. The person stealing the cards can be seen on videotape, and the business said it could provide a photo. A man with the business said he’d like to press charges against the man believing he likely used an access card to enter the facility. The person who had their cards stolen declined to file a report. The facility’s security does not know who the man is.

Brother to brother: A Roselawn Rd. man had his brother arrested for causing a disturbance on July 3. The man called the police earlier in evening complaining that his brother was intoxicated, screaming and yelling. The brother, who had a warrant out on him in Willoughby, was made to leave and told he’d be arrested if he returned. The brother said he would go to a friends’ house but later returned and was arrested.

Mother attacks daughter: A woman reported her mother hit her over the head with a ceramic vase in the early morning of July 6 on Orchard Heights Dr. She said her mother and possibly her boyfriend were attempting to get at her in a bedroom. She said she was bleeding from the head and required assistance. She was taken to , and the police took the mother into custody.
