School Leader at Columbus Blended High School Takes on Expanded Role

Andrew Pasquinilli, School Leader at the Nexus Academy of Columbus, a tuition-free, blended public high school, has been promoted to Director of Nexus Academy Schools where he will oversee four schools in Ohio (Columbus, Toledo and Cleveland) and Indiana (Indianapolis). As Director of Nexus Academy Schools, Pasquinilli will help to increase enrollment and support student learning as well as continue to promote the blended academic model in the two states.

Nexus Academy (www.NexusAcademySchool.com) students attend classes—led by certified teachers—in-person, on-campus, for either a morning or afternoon session. Students have time in the school day for internships, college dual enrollment, and pursuit of personal passions such as sports or performing arts. Students complete the rest of their schoolwork online, working with the school’s certified online teachers, and utilizing a mobile computer and other technology tools provided at no cost by Nexus Academy. Students can work anywhere within the Nexus Academy school and beyond 24/7.

Pasquinilli has been the principal at Nexus Academy of Columbus since it opened its doors in the fall of 2012. In that time, the enrollment at the school has more than tripled. In January the Ohio Education Technology Conference recently recognized the school for effectively encouraging students to utilize and incorporate other technological devices to research, create and communicate as they complete their work. This year Pasquinilli also received among the highest marks for satisfaction among parents in an annual survey by Nexus Academy.

“I believe the blended model of learning we see today is the future of education,” Pasquinilli said. “Today’s students tend to be more independent yet they still need to be engaged or receive direction from a success coach. Our schools offer them that as well as a very individualized learning environment. I’m excited about doing the job I have now on this larger scale.”

Connections Education is in the process of seeking candidates to replace Pasquinilli as School Leader. The position description is available at https://re22.ultipro.com/CON1019/JobBoard/JobDetails.aspx?__ID=*91C8AC1347F2A3A1
