Viewfinder: Love and Comfort for the Needy

From Mayfield schools and Village Quilters

Wednesdays around lunchtime the Mayfield Village Community Room comes alive with voices, both young and old. They are united in bringing care and comfort to others, sharing stories, giggling a little bit, and the give and take of teaching and learning.

Established in 1992, the Village Quilters and volunteer students from Mayfield have been busy making warm and cuddly quilts.

The creative patterns are laid out by students, then sewn, ironed, filled with batting, and tacked by the Village Quilters.

Both adults and children do the last time-consuming step – knotting. Each patch has to be tied four times; two to the left and two to the right.

The quilts, infused with lots of love and care, are now ready to go on their journey.
