Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Medina to light up downtown with America 250 Pumpkin Salute (medina-gazette.com) — Downtown Medina will glow with hundreds of carved pumpkins during the free America 250 Pumpkin Salute on Oct. 24, with contests, costumes, food trucks and music. Residents must pre-register pumpkins by Oct. 17 on the city website and drop them at Medina Square that afternoon for a shot at cash prizes and record-breaking bragging rights.
2. Soccer roundup: Colby Wentz, Jacek Lotz, Jackson Morris score for Cloverleaf (medina-gazette.com) — Medina's boys soccer team fell 2-1 to Solon, ending up sharing the Suburban League National title with Brecksville despite a strong season. Medina Christian's boys and girls teams also saw mixed results, while Cloverleaf and Highland squads turned in notable performances that local fans and families will want to track as league play winds down.
3. Medina County approves $864,400 Human Services Center window project (yourohionews.com) — Medina County commissioners have approved an $864,400 window replacement for the Human Services Center and distributed more than $1.24 million each to Medina and Brunswick schools from sales tax revenue. They also advanced sewer maintenance equipment, a Lake Road project savings, and a grant-funded county energy security plan that could shape future infrastructure and environmental efforts affecting Medina residents.
4. Ohio early voting for 2026 election starts with a surprise in Medina County (record-courier.com) — Early voting just kicked off at the Medina County Board of Elections, where Democrats surprisingly outpaced Republicans on the first day despite the county's GOP registration edge. Local voters from Wadsworth and the sheriff's office describe frustration over inflation, campaign ads, and the ongoing war, as closely watched congressional and Senate races put Medina County in the national spotlight.
