100+ Women Who Care, Lake County Changing The Way Non-Profits Are Funded
100+ Women Who Care Lake County, kicked off their inaugural meeting on march 14th with 33 women present. These women are retired, Middle aged, college aged, working and stay at home mom's who struggle to find the time to attend fundraisers and events. These women are community minded women who want to help support their local community by joining with other community minded women in collaborative philanthropy. Our meetings last only 60 minutes so women can return to their busy lives, but still feel good about being a part of the change we need to see in the world.
At our inaugural meeting our members collectively donated $2950. to Five Loaves, a non-profit in Painesville, Ohio. Five Loaves serves the community monthly, 4 hours each time. Five Loaves devotes its energy to passionately helping the hungry, needy and spiritually lost members of our local community. They focus on bringing food into areas of the city that have low income housing. These families are most times on assistance. Most of these kids are not properly nourished during the periods when they are not in school getting sustenance provided to them by the school district. Five Loaves also brings fun with them by offering to paint the kids faces and they plan active games during the 4 hour period, as well as providing for their spiritual needs.
Our next meeting is June 13th. at Red Wine and Brew. We start the meeting promptly at 6:30pm. Please come see what we are all about. In 60 minutes we will choose another local non-profit. Our goal is to build our membership up to 100+ women. Based on the membership a non-profit could potentially walk away with $10,000+.
