District leaders credit him with strengthening finances, improving transparency, and securing clean audits, while the school board now plans its next steps to fill this key role.

• Mentor vs. Erie McDowell football: Cardinals hang on to claim 31-30 thriller (news-herald.com) — Mentor High's Cardinals edged Erie McDowell, 31-30, after stopping a late two-point try at Jerome T. Osborne Stadium. Despite turnovers and penalties, big plays from quarterback Brogan Jones and linebacker Cooper Russo pushed Mentor to 2-0, with a trip to face St. Ignatius at John Carroll up next.
