AOL Buys Huffington Post

Ariana Huffington named editor-in-chief of newly formed HuffingtonPost Media Group, which will include Patch

AOL, the parent company forΒ Patch.com, announced that itΒ has acquired popular online news siteΒ HuffingtonPostΒ this morning.

As part of the $315 million deal, Ariana Huffington, the Post's co-founder and editor-in-chief, willΒ serve as president and editor-in-chief of AOL's new division, The HuffingtonPost Media Group.

The HuffingtonPost Media Group will include Patch.

Mentor Patch is one of close to 800 hyper-local news sites operated by Patch across the country.Β This acquisition is likely to have little direct effect on sites like Mentor Patch, but honestly we don't know exactly what the impact will be.
