Authorities Arrest Sex Trafficking Suspect

A Cleveland woman who is accused of prostituting a 15-year-old teenager in Lake County and throughout the region was arrested Tuesday afternoon, according to Newsnet5.

The FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force found Chardee Barfield, 21, in the neighborhood of West 47th Street and Lorain Avenue.

Barfield, and her alleged partner Ernest McClain, 27, were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of sex trafficking of children and transportation of a minor.

They are accused of selling the sexual services of a 15-year-old, according to the FBI. Though both Barfield and McClain live in Cleveland, they would take the girl to hotels in Lake County, including Mentor, and as far as Pennsylvania to perform sexual acts, the FBI said.

The duo also posted explicit photos of the teen on the Internet to advertise her and Barfield even performed sexual acts with the teen, according to the FBI.

McClain was arrested in Wickliffe and is scheduled to have a jury trial April 9 in the Northern District of Ohio Federal Court.

The Mentor, Wickliffe and Cleveland Police Departments worked on this investigation, along with the FBI.
