Mayfield a Great Tournament for Mentor
Two Mentor teams had a great weekend in Mayfield's Boys Baseball Tournament.
Two Mentor teams this weekend proved their worth in Mayfield. Mentor Red 10U, coached by Eric Zaller, won the 10U division in a final game against Lake Erie Storm 5-4. The game was tied 4-4 going into the final inning when Dylan DeMent came in to pitch and Mentor was able to hold the Storm. All Mentor had to do was get one runner home and they won! Congratulations to the entire Mentor Cardinals Red 10U Team: Brady Benz, Dylan DeMent, Ben Edwards, Robbie Finucan, Austin Grebenc, Clayton Salopeck, Justin Satterfield, Jake Sterio, Nolan Vernon, Mike Wasko, Jack Witte, & Nick Zaller; Coaches Eric Zaller, Jim Satterfield, Dave Sterio, & John Wasko.
Mentor Red 11U, who won the 10U division last year, fell just short of the title this year. But what great baseball to watch. I think the final game was easily the best game we played all season. We pitched well, hit well, and fielded well...only problem: so did the Knights. It was tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the 7th and they managed to score, ending the game and our hopes of another title. Our team played their hearts out and no one felt like 2nd place was a disappointment. What a great season! Congratulations 11U Red: Kyle Beller, Colin Boyd, Adam Debevec, Alex Edwards, Nate Frimel, Braeden Gefert, Brett Matsko, Michael Nicoletti, Justin Ribinskas, Jordan Robb, CJ Will, & Sam Williams; Coaches: Frank Kraska, Don Beller, Dennis Matsko, & Steve Williams.
