Cavaliers sit stars in blowout loss to the Clippers

Cavaliers, Clippers, Lue, Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye, J.R. Smith, Eastern Conference,

Things can not expect to go well when the Cavaliers' Big 3 do not play, and Saturday nights' prime time game was no exception as the Cavaliers fall to the Clippers, 108-78.

With the Cavs beginning a stretch of eight games in 14 days, Coach Tyronne Lue decided to rest The Big 3-Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love- for the Cavaliers and the Clippers snapped their three-game losing streak by feasting on the Cavs' supporting cast.

Cleveland shot just 39 percent from the floor and 18.5 percent from three-point range. Also, they did not share the ball well, as they finished with just 15 assists. Cleveland had seven players in double figures, but no one had more than Richard Jefferson, who scored 12 to lead the Cavs in their lowest-scoring game of the season.

The Clippers' Blake Griffin led all scorers with 23 points and DeAndre Jordan contributed 13 points and 17 rebounds.

The Cavaliers are now 0-3 when it sits Love, Irving, and James, 0-6 when James sits this season, and 4-21 without him since the start of the 2014 season.

Love recently returned from a knee injury, and Irving left Cleveland's game Thursday due to knee tightness. Wanting to minimize risk, head coach Tyronne Lue also decided to sit James.

The Cavaliers (45-22) have lost five of eight, but still lead Boston by 1 1/2 games atop the Eastern Conference.

COMING UP NEXT FOR THE CAVS: The Cavaliers play the Los Angeles Lakers (20-49) on Sunday. The Big 3 are expected to play in Sunday's game.
