Cavs lose Andrew Bogut and to the Heat, 106-98

Cavaliers, Heat, Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, Andrew Bogut, Dion Waiters, Goran Dragic, Hassan Whiteside, Tyronne Lue, Larry Drew Okaro White

Andrew Bogut broke his left leg less than one minute into his Cleveland debut early in the second quarter and the Cavaliers go on to lose to the Miami Heat 106-98 on Monday night.

Miami has won 19 of 23, including victories over Golden State, Houston and back-to-back over Cleveland, whose inconsistent effort, poor foul-shooting and turnovers doomed the Cavs' chances to get revenge from their loss to the Heat Saturday night.

Coach Tyronn Lue didn't even make into the building. He's been sick for at least a week with flu-like symptoms. Associate head coach Larry Drew took Lue's place.

Kyrie Irving led Cleveland with 32 points and seven assists. James added 30 points and a season-high 17 rebounds. It was James' 15th game this season of 30 or more points. They were the only two Cavaliers players in double figures Monday. Neither was in the lineup Saturday when Cleveland was blown out 120-90 by the Heat.

Former Cav Dion Waiters destroyed his former team with 29 points, including a back-breaking 3-pointer with 12.2 seconds left that he banked in from the top of the key as the shot clock expired. Goran Dragic added 21 and the Heat held off a late rally by the Cavs, who trimmed a 20-point deficit to 103-98 in the final minute.

Bogut was signed Thursday to a free-agent contract for $385,000 for much needed front-court depth. With 11:38 left in the second quarter, Bogut ran out to the perimeter to guard Miami forward Okaro White. Bogut collided with him and was called for his second foul and landed awkwardly.

Bogut hobbled and then fell to the court. He needed help from his new teammates just to get to the locker room. He was telling teammates on his way to the locker room he knew his leg was broken.

Not two hours later, he was undergoing X-rays in the bowels of The Q, then shipped to the Cleveland Clinic when the break was first diagnosed.

COMING UP FOR THE CAVS: The Cavaliers start a three-game road trip on Thursday when they visit the Palace in Detroit for the last time.
