Messiah Chorus of Lake County's presentation of Handel's Messiah

The community is cordially invited to enjoy the 185-voice Messiah Chorus of Lake County as it offers its 63rd presentation of Handel's Messiah at the Catholic Community of St. Gabriel. This year's presentation, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Sunday, Dec. 4, in the Church located at 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township.

Health issues forced longtime Chorus conductor Ken Nash to step down after last year's presentation. Nash has rehearsed and conducted the Chorus for 19 seasons. Kevin Donahue, an eight-year Chorus member, Messiah Chorus of Lake County Chairman and music coordinator at St. Gabriel, has been named conductor.

St. Gabriel Pastor Fr. Fred Pausche said, "St. Gabriel Parish is honored to open our doors and welcome the 63rd annual presentation of Handel's Messiah on the Second Sunday of the Advent Season, December 4. As pastor, I value and appreciate opportunities to experience the presence of God manifest in the gifts of the over 200 singers and musicians who comprise the Messiah Chorus of Lake County. Two weeks later, on December 18, St. Gabriel Music Ministry invites the community to an Advent Evening of Prayer & Song at 6:30 p.m. in our church as our adult, youth and teen choirs share their gifts to help us celebrate this holy season. In the midst of this often very busy time, these two events help us to focus on the holy meaning of this time of the year. Welcome to all."

St. Gabriel Church is wheelchair/disabled accessible.
