Upscale Consignment Boutique Opens In Mentor

From Me To You sells women's clothing and accessories at low prices

In today's tough economy, consumers are always hunting for the lowest prices to stretch their hard-earned dollars.

That’s one reason why entrepreneurs Rubin Chen and Ryan Hoffecker recently opened From Me To You, an upscale consignment boutique that sells a wide range of quality women’s clothing and accessories at low prices.

Although the 2,200-square-foot shop at 7536 Mentor Avenue just opened for business Oct. 1, it already has more than 800 consignment items for sale such as brand- and designer-name business suits, dresses, sweaters, blouses, skirts, jackets, coats, scarves, handbags, shoes and jewelry. Chen has sold more than 300 items. Her shop also has two fitting rooms.

“We have pretty much everything you can think of for women,” said Chen. “We also try to have a little bit of everything for everyone.”

Chen said many of the items brought in by her consignment customers still have the original price tags attached. She said it’s not unusual for women to buy clothes and then decide not to wear them for a variety of reasons. Other clothes may have been worn only once or twice.

“It’s a good way for people to declutter their closets and make a little money,” said Chen.

Another benefit is recycling quality clothing and accessories and making them available at low prices to consumers who cannot afford brand name or designer merchandise at regular retail prices.

All of the store’s items are priced at 20 percent to 35 percent of their original retail cost. For example, a pair of designer shoes that originally retailed for $80 is priced at $15. Coat prices range from $19 to $39 and jewelry pieces can run as low at $3.95 and up to $30.

“The jewelry goes pretty quickly because they are unique pieces that can’t be found anywhere else," said Chen. “And they don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get some really nice pieces.”

The store’s fall hours are Monday-Wednesday., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday.-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The store expects to post a website soon. For more information about the store’s consignment policies, please call 440-918-4588.
