High School Bands Compete to Rock at Mallapalooza

Six to eight lucky bands will be compete in a battle of the bands that's about more than just playing music

High school bands from all around Lake County auditioned this weekend for Mallapalooza, an all-day battle of the bands that will take place June 23 at Great Lakes Mall.

In addition to rocking the crowd at , the bands will also make a music video and promote their performance as part of the competition. The event's organizer, Joe Abraham of Belmez Entertainment, said he wants the bands to not just play well, but also to learn about the business side of music.

Seventeen bands competed for six to eight slots. Abraham said there might be a second round of auditions if there is enough interest.

Four of the bands that auditioned have local ties. Show Some Class and Radiation have  students and Plan-9 and Pray for a Savior include musicians from .
