Dick Bennett, Executive Director and CEO of the Lake County Y commented, “The Dream House strengthens our cause to bring about meaningful change by providing resources that enrich lives in our community. Because we serve about 1 in 4 Lake County residents of all ages, facility enhancements like renovated locker rooms at our Central and West End branches and new gym equipment, plus updates at the Outdoor Family Center, improve our ability to provide every child, adult and family with opportunities to learn, grow and thrive.”
The 2014 Dream House is one of several brownstones at the Residences of Willoughby Pointe in downtown Willoughby. The three-bedroom home offers living space that is completely open, creating a great flow for entertaining. Modern design and open floor plan makes it very comfortable and surprisingly spacious. The urban backdrop offers the best of everything at your fingertips from restaurants, coffee shops and nightlife to a bird’s eye view of the happenings on the streets. With a stunning view from above you can enjoy the solitude or step out onto the second floor balcony and listen as the city beckons you to join in the excitement below.
Karen Krauss and Kate Weaver, Design Co-coordinators for the Lake County Y 2014 Dream House, described it as “perfect for any couple or family seeking an active lifestyle in the heart of downtown Willoughby. We hope everyone enjoys the stylish and functional rooms from our team, which includes fresh points of view from several new designers. The open floor plan created new opportunities for build-ins and challenges in defining space, but our team has once again furnished a dazzling home.”
“As our (The Y) largest fundraiser, the Dream House defines community – it brings people together to share their passions and enrich the lives of others. From planning and construction to managing daily tours, hundreds of volunteers give their time and talents to ensure we strengthen the foundations of our community,” said Bob Hoffman, Lake County Y Chief Facilities Officer.
“Capital improvements to our Lake County Y from the Dream House would not be possible without the support of the community, sponsors and our business partners. A huge Thank you to our major sponsors for 2014 including Knez Homes, The Chevy Network/Classic Chevrolet, Cambria, Mentor Lumber, Embers Custom Fireplace and Gas Product, Guhde Flooring America, Mars Electric, Sherwin Williams, Alside, Downtown Willoughby Restaurant Association, Faux What, Store with Style and Carter Lumber,” added Hoffman.
Since 1993, proceeds from the Dream House have totaled over $4 million (approximately $200,000 per year) to provide the tools necessary for families and individuals to achieve better health and for children and teens to reach their potential through facility enhancements. The Lake County Y serves approximately 15,447 kids and teens annually, providing a wide range of activities to help them learn, grow and thrive. With more than 42,000 people served, the Y’s presence and partnerships not just promise but deliver, lasting personal and social change.
