Lakeland Civic Music Groups Combine To Present A Virtual Concert And Classes

Lakeland Community College’s civic music groups have joined their talented members together to present a virtual concert that can be played right in your home. In an effort to keep the arts alive during the pandemic, the civic band, civic chorus, civic flute choir, civic jazz orchestra and civic orchestra used the latest technology to create an online concert, free to all. Lakeland Civic Music Concert and Masterclasses

In addition to the concert, the music program has created instructional videos free to anyone interested in broadening their musical skills. The videos can also be found at lakelandcc.edu/arts or the link above, and include: “A Conversation with Dr. Matthew Saunders and Concertmaster Andrew Smeader;” “Flute Masterclass with George Pope and Members of the Lakeland Civic Flute Choir;” “Jazz Improvisation Basics with Ed Michaels;” and “Low Brass Masterclass with J.C. Sherman.”

About the civic music programs

Lakeland Community College provides community members the opportunity to express and advance their talents by performing in five music groups: the Lakeland Civic Band, the Lakeland Civic Chorus, the Lakeland Flute Choir, the Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra and the Lakeland Civic Orchestra. Additionally, the college offers talented high school students Jazz Impact, an all-star high school music group.
