In taking this action, the Institutional Actions Council of the HLC considered materials from the college's most recent written evaluation, a virtual site visit in April 2020, and an on-site verification visit in September 2020.

"This continuation of our accreditation was the result of a lot of hard work, made even more challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it validates the quality of our academic programs, faculty and methods," said Lakeland President Morris W. Beverage, Jr. "We will continue to maintain the high standards set by the Higher Learning Commission so that we can meet our mission of providing quality learning opportunities for area residents."

The HLC also confirmed the college's eligibility to select the Open Pathway, which will replace the AQIP Pathway, for maintaining accreditation. Lakeland's next Reaffirmation of Accreditation will be in 2029-30.
