Man sentenced to 180 days for drug-related offense
Gatchel was involved in drug party where friend overdosed on heroin

Mentor Municipal Judge John Trebets sentenced Steven Gatchel to 180 days in jail Thursday for attempted possession of drugs.
Gatchel, 18, of Painesville was originally charged with abusing heroin and corrupting others with drugs after a friend of his overdosed at Studio 6 hotel in October. Gatchel was facing prison time of two to nine years for these felonies.
However, the drug abuse charge was dismissed and the corrupting others with drugs charge was reduced to attempted possession of drugs, which is a first degree misdeomeanor, according to court records.

On October 12, Gatchel took his friends Timothy Throop, and to Cleveland to buy heroin. After using the drug, Throop, 19, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, overdosed. They called paramedics who took Throop to LakeWest Medical Center where he recovered, according to Mentor Police reports. .
Since that day, , They were charged with drug abuse, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and child endangerment.

Ryazanskiy was sentence to 173 days in Lake County Jail. Korb is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday in Mentor Municipal Court.
Throop has also had a charge of drug abuse filed against him in Mentor Municipal Court. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
