Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: The eight-member Demo Team of Team KIXXX competed against teams from all over the country and won second place at the International Sport Karate Association World Championship Friday in Orlando.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Never be intimidated.

The Demo Team is relatively young for a sports karate team. Its eight members range in age from 10 to 17 and three of them have only been with the team about two months.

Furthermore, the Demo Team has only been around for four years.

By comparison, many top teams come from metropolises on the coast like Los Angeles and New York City, have existed for much longer and are comprised of older members who are the top students from several karate schools.

However, the Demo Team for Team KIXXX, whose members all come from the in Mentor, trounced almost everyone when they earned a second-place finish Friday at the International Sport Karate Association World Championship Friday in Orlando.

Viewers can watch their performance 11:30 p.m. July 22 on ESPN 2.

The Demo Team hopes to continue its hot streak with competitions in Washington, D.C., and Minneapolis later this summer.

To defray its competition expenses, the team is holding a pair of fundraisers. The first will be a carwash from 4 to 8 p.m. July 13 at . The second will be a raffle July 23 at the .
