Mentor Football Team's Regional Final at Lakewood Stadium

The football team will face St. Ignatius at Lakewood Stadium in the Division I, Region 1 finals Saturday at 7 p.m. according to the OHSAA’s website.

Top-seeded Mentor (11-1) (10-2), 38-24, at home on Sept. 9.

The Cardinals (10-2), 42-40, for the second time this season, beating them at Byers Field on Saturday night and , 48-16, in the opening-round of the playoffs at home.

The Wildcats subdued sixth-seeded and 2010 champion St. Edward, 20-17, at Brunswick Stadium on Saturday night for the second time this season and defeated seventh-seeded Boardman, 29-14, at Byers Field in the first round.

Mentor is seeking its first state title and has reached its first regional final since two state runner-up appearances in 2006 and 2007.

St. Ignatius has won 10 state titles, its last coming in 2008.
