Mentor Loses to St. Ignatius, 26-6
St. Ignatius slows Mentor's offense, as the team falls to 1-1.

Coach Steve Trivisonno told his Mentor Cardinal defenseΒ to "stop giving 'em stuff" in the first halfΒ of Friday's game. Though the defense played better this week, the coach's demand went unmet.
And other thanΒ a 70-yard touchdown run up the right sideline by senior quarterback Conner Krizancic and a couple dazzling plays that inspired the crowd to chant junior Eddie Daugherty's name, Mentor's offense was largely flat.
Those factors led toΒ a surprising 26-6 home loss to St. Ignatius.
The offensive fireworks of last week's victory over Erie McDowellΒ were nowhere to be found. Instead, St. Ignatius limited Mentor's passing attackΒ (130 yards between Krizancic and sophomore Matt Eiswerth) andΒ star wide receiver Brandon FrittsΒ (2 catches, 12 yards).
"A game like this shows that offensively, we arenβt invincible," Fritts told OhioVarsity.com. "We are human. We arenβt going to score 44 points every game."
Mentor made more defensive stops than last week, but St. Ignatius made enough big plays to stay ahead for majority ofΒ the night. Senior wide receivers John Hyland and Michael Siragusa each caught touchdowns, while senior running back Enzo Cannata ran for 110 yards and another score.
Mentor (1-1) travels to Euclid next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
