Mark Molder, a junior who is a two time district qualifier, led the team with five pins this weekend. Mark took a fifth in the 126 pound weight class. Senior Alex Barich picked up a win for the cardinals at 132 pounds, while junior Treyvon Smith picked up his first victory as a starter. Austin Tomoletz led the team with his fourth place finish, narrowly dropping two 1 point decisions. The 145 pound senior picked up four victories over the weekend. Junior, one-hundred-fifty-two pound Kyle Greig picked up his first varsity win this weekend. Jake Henry, a senior who wrestled at 160 lbs. this weekend, placed sixth. All three of Jake's losses were to returning state placers. Former district qualifier, Aaron Wank brought home an 8th place medal for his efforts. Wank went 3-3 at the Comet Classic. The team returns to action Friday, December 20th in a home match against cross town rival Lake Catholic, followed by a home trianglular on Saturday, December 21st against Perry and Wadsworth. Perry was second in Division 2 last year, while Wadsworth knocked off St. Edward in 2012 to be the first public, big school to win a state title since 1977 when Nordonia won it in the AAA Division.
