Nexus Academy of Cleveland Recognizes 2015 Graduates
Blended High School Graduates plan for college and/or careers
More than 20 Nexus Academy of Cleveland seniors were recently presented their diplomas during the blended high school’s third annual commencement ceremony. Since the schools’ opening in August 2012, Nexus Academy has provided Cleveland area students a different approach to education where students follow an online curriculum in a brick and mortar setting.
“I am so proud of this class of scholars. An amazing number of our students have overcome a variety of challenges to make it to this point, a milestone they should be proud of,” said Nexus Academy of Cleveland School Leader Brittiany Sanford. “Our graduates are looking forward to starting collegiate careers at a few prestigious institutions such as Columbia College in Chicago, The Ohio State University, Indiana Tech and the University of Akron to name a few. I can’t wait to see them rise to the occasion by representing our school, their family and this community during their new frontier in life.”
2015 Valedictorian Dea Malone enrolled at Nexus Academy of Cleveland in August 2013 in search of a public school environment that challenged her, let her work at her own pace and would enable her to take college courses.

“When I started at Nexus Academy I was a little unsure about how it was going to work. The school was small and I didn’t know anyone,” Malone said. “However in a very short time I realized that I was surrounded by people who really cared about my success. The teachers and my fellow students believed in me and pushed me to go farther.”
After graduation Malone will attend to Cincinnati State to study Diagnostic Medical Sonography and then plans to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science at University of Cincinnati. In total, 17 of the Nexus Academy of Cleveland graduates plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college or university.
