70 kids participate in National Football League-affiliated flag football summer camp, up from 20 last year

About 70 Mentor kids from ages 5 to 12 participated in the second annual Youth Flag Football League four-day summer camp this week at .

The camp – sponsored by the United States Flag and Touch Football League, the National Football League and the city of Mentor – ends today with flag football games and an awards ceremony.

"Last year was our first year and we had about 20 kids," said Mike Cihon, executive director of the USFTFL. "This year we have 70 kids playing. In flag football, kids learn basic football skills but there is no tackling or blocking, which reduces injuries. The kids love it."
