UPS Driver Rams Truck into House

Police say that Lee Brandt might have fallen asleep at the wheel of his UPS truck before he crashed into the house on Lake Shore Boulevard

Police think Lee Brandt may have fallen asleep while at the wheel of his UPS truck before he crashed into a house.

Brandt, 57, of Lyndhurst, was driving west on Lake Shore Boulevard at about 7:45 p.m. Monday night when he crossed over the median and sideswiped a Chevrolet Malibu coming in the other direction, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

Brandt's truck continued another 100 feet before it crashed into a house on the 7100 block of Lake Shore. About half of the truck went into the house's living room.

Powers added that police do not think Brandt was drinking.

Fortunately, nobody was in the Lake Shore house at the time of the crash. Also, the people in the Malibu only had minor injuries. Paramedics treated them on the scene.
