Tribe rally with 3 in the ninth to top Rangers 8-5 in season opener

Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, Kluber, Darvish, Encarnacion, Ramirez, Almonte, Odor, Gomez, Carrasco,

Abraham Almonte hit a tiebreaking single in a three-run ninth inning and the Cleveland Indians opened the 2017 season by rallying for an 8-5 win over the Texas Rangers.

Corey Kluber made his third consecutive opening day start and gave up five runs-all on home runs in the first three innings. Kluber was dealing with some blister/callus issues due to the humidity. He did not want to use it as a excuse and found a way to pitch thru it.

Rangers' starter Yu Darvish making his first Opening Day start, allowed four runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked five and struck out four.

Five home runs were hit in the game, including two by Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor. Jose Ramirez's two-run homer in the fourth off Yu Darvish made it a 5-3 game as Kluber settled down.

The biggest came in the eighth inning when the Indians huge free-agent signing Edwin Encarnacion tied the score at 5-5 with a 422-foot home run to left off Rangers' reliever Matt Bush.
