Trubisky Leads Mentor Over Division V Champion Youngstown Ursuline
Quarterback continues stellar play with three TD passes and two running TDs

Mentor quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for three touchdowns and ran for two other scores as he led the Cardinals to a 38-27 victory over Youngstown Ursuline in the team’s home opener on Friday night.
Trubisky had 424 all-purpose yards as the Cardinals (2-0) remained undefeated in knocking off the Fighting Irish (0-2), winners of the last three state championships in Division V.
Beating a team of such special achievement is a big boost for the program in the eyes of the coach.

“It’s a good win for us. They run the ball well. They’re big. They’re physical. They’re going to be fine when they get to the playoffs and create a lot of havoc,” Cardinals head coach Steve Trivisonno said. “I was pleased with it, just to get a win like that. And it gets us ready for a huge one next week.”
The huge one to which Trivisonno refers is against St. Ignatius as the Wildcats pay a visit for a 7 p.m. tilt next Friday. Sophomore receiver Conner Krizancic is likely to be a big factor in that game.

Krizancic caught two of Trubisky’s three touchdown passes of 12 and 7 yards on Friday night. Krizancic has scored five touchdowns so far this season with three passing and two running.
With such dynamic offensive numbers, Trivisonno couldn’t say enough good things about Trubisky’s play in the season’s first two weeks.
Against Euclid last week, Trubisky threw for three touchdowns and ran in a score in their season-opening 49-21 win at former Lake Erie League rival Euclid.
Needless to say, the junior quarterback is maintaining quite a pace.
“He’s a special player and he does a great job of handling the situation because really, he’s back there by himself,” Trivisonno said in reference to the team’s spread offense that often operates without running back support. “There’s a lot of pressure from that standpoint. He’s a special man.”
