1. Male threatens people with knife, several alcohol violations reported to OPD (oxfreepress.com) — Oxford police recently handled a series of serious and nuisance incidents, including a man allegedly threatening people with a knife near Lang Manor and multiple alcohol-related offenses around town. Officers and Oxford firefighters also responded to a fourth-floor fall on Tallawanda Road, several thefts at local businesses, and other calls such as domestic violence and property damage.
2. 'May Peace Prevail On Earth:' Oxford solidifies commitment to peace, relationship with sister city (oxfreepress.com) — Oxford residents now have a new peace pole outside the Oxford Lane Library, installed during a ceremony with city officials and a visiting delegation from sister city Dubno, Ukraine. Local Rotary leaders say the multilingual pole, complete with braille and a QR code, is meant as a daily reminder of peace and the close relationship between Oxford and Dubno.
3. Starbucks store closures include at least one confirmed Ohio location (times-gazette.com) — Starbucks is closing about 250 North American stores this week, and the company previously shut down its Oxford location at Miami University's Bell Tower in 2025 as part of an earlier restructuring. While only one new Ohio closure in Columbus is confirmed so far, the story notes Starbucks has already reduced its Oxford presence and may adjust more locations statewide.
4. Greater Cincinnati aspiring rapper convicted of murder, dubbed 'Evil Soulmate' (meigsindypress.com) — A man from Oxford has been convicted in Indiana of murdering a woman he was obsessed with and trying to frame her boyfriend using fake social media accounts. Investigators ultimately traced key digital evidence back to Oxford and tied DNA on the knife to him. He represented himself at trial and now awaits sentencing in October.
