📰 News we're reading

• OCAC seeks lease extension as it pursues $10.2M renovation (oxfreepress.com) — Oxford's Community Arts Center is pursuing a $10.2 million renovation that hinges partly on securing an extended 60-year lease from Miami University to qualify for key historic tax credits. Plans would modernize the entire building, open the long-unused second floor, add new studios and a café, and expand arts programming, potentially boosting cultural tourism and daily opportunities for local residents.

• UConn falls to 2-2 with road loss to Miami-Ohio (wfsb.com) — Miami University's RedHawks edged UConn 24-21 in Oxford after erasing an early 14-0 deficit, sealing the win with a late 33-yard field goal. The back-and-forth game showcased big momentum swings at Yager Stadium and sends Miami forward while UConn returns home to face Syracuse next week.

• Sergiy Kostrikov's visit (oxfreepress.com) — A visiting Ukrainian geography professor is spending a month in Oxford, working with Miami University to develop mapping tools that will guide Kharkiv's post-war rebuilding. He describes the daily dangers his city faces, explains how Oxford's support and sister-city ties matter, and invites local residents to connect with him before he leaves on Oct. 12.
