Two Miami students were shot and wounded during a robbery attempt at a home on North Campus Avenue Tuesday night, police said.

Police were still looking for the gunman who shot two Miami students during a private car purchase at a home in the 200 block of N. Campus Avenue Tuesday evening, Oxford police said.

In an updated release, Oxford officers said they called to the home about 7:44 p.m. and found two men shot in the legs. The victims, whose names were not immediately released, were taken to area hospitals for treatment. The injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

One victim was treated at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital and released. The other victim was taken to West Chester Hospital, which declined to release his condition.

Two male students were shot at 210 N. Campus Ave. around 7:45 p.m Tuesday, Miami officials announced.

The house, listed as a three-family dwelling, is owned by McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital Endowment, according to the Butler County Auditor's web site. The home is about two blocks from campus.

The university urged students and residents to avoid the area, according to a Tweet they posted Tuesday night.

According to the auditor's web site, the 2,500-square-foot home is categorized as student housing and has eight bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a full attic and basement.

A sign on the front of the house says: "Study A Broad."

The hospital endowment appears to have taken possession of the home in 2003. It was valued at $426,100 in 2015, according to the auditor.

Anyone with information is asked to call Oxford Police at 513-524-5240.
