Berea-Midpark High School Hosting Internet Safety Event for Parents

Jesse Weinberger, a national recognized Internet Safety presenter and TEDx speaker, will speak on the topic.

BEREA, OH - Parents in 2016 face a litany of struggles related to new technology. In a world of increasing connectivity, keeping children safe from predators is a full-time job. Berea-Midpark High School wants to help and is bringing in Jesse Weinberger, a TEDx speaker, author, and expert on Internet safety.

Weinberger will discuss Understanding Social Media and Media Literacy, Cyberbullying, Sexting, and Sexual Predation. She'll break down the realities of the situation: sexting is starting to occur as early as 4th or 5th grade, children's real life best friends are frequently their most vicious cyber bullies, and there are nearly 750,000 sexual predators online.

Parents will learn how to engage their children in conversations about technology use, how to protect their children from bullying and sexual predators, and how to stay educated.
