FAIRVIEW PARK, OH - The first person to be arrested for making threats to President-elect Donald Trump is a Northeast Ohioan. Zachary Benson, 24, of Fairview Park, posted threats to Trump on his Twitter account at 1 a.m. following the election.
The Tweet that landed him in the custody of the Secret Service was: “My life goal is to assassinate Trump. Don’t care if I serve infinite sentences. That man deserves to decease existing (sic),” according to an affidavit filed in the case.
Benson deleted the Tweets shortly after sending them out but the damage was already done. According to the affidavit, he told Secret Service that he was frustrated by Trump's policies and had no intention of actually following through on his threats.
